MCCAC Plans for "The Annex” to Offer Needed Transitional Housing & Shelter

MCCAC recently acquired the former Oregon Motor Motel located on the edge of downtown The Dalles and is beginning renovations.

The former motel will be converted into transitional housing and shelter for community members experiencing houselessness, including individuals and couples, families with children, veterans, and persons with disabilities.

The Annex will offer safe, accessible housing with coordinated supportive services and case management integrated on site. Key services will be provided in coordination with community partners, including medical respite care, health care, behavioral health care, jail diversion programming, employment resources, and rapid rehousing services.

Anticipated to open later in 2023, the site will be staffed by MCCAC 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with two site managers living on location and four additional staff working during daytime hours. MCCAC will also contract with a security firm to provide a security guard on site during overnight hours.

Since 2021, MCCAC has been able to help more than 80 individuals transition from houselessness into long-term housing placements.
